Tip Tuesday - Seasonal Clothing Swap
Here in Arkansas we typically start Fall with a few cooler days and then we’re hit with another heat wave, so you may want to wait a little longer before putting away all of your summer clothing. But hopefully these tips will help you tackle that task when you’re ready!
Some people prefer to leave all of their clothes hanging in the closet year round, they just shuffle them around when needed. These steps on decluttering will still be helpful even if you don’t pack up your out of season clothes! I recommend at least shifting the spring/summer clothes to the back of your closet and moving the fall/winter clothes up so that they’re easily accessible. Creating categories within your closet will help to keep it tidy!
Try to do all of the spring/summer laundry before you begin.
Go through EACH item of your closet and dresser to determine whether you should keep, donate, sell, or trash it! Make piles based on these categories and be brutal as you go through each item! If you’re keeping items for a younger sibling, make sure you keep those separate too!
Take care of any laundry & dry cleaning needs.
Contain clothes you want to keep for next year in bins or bags of your preference. Categorize by person, tops, bottoms, etc. Pro-Tip- LABEL them so you don’t have to dig through every container if you’re looking for something specific.
Repeat those steps for each person living in your home.
When you pull out your fall & winter items, don’t just hang them up and shove them in a drawer. Instead, go through the same steps (even if you went through it before putting it up last season!)
